Virtual Pagers are dedicated phone numbers that external users can call to leave a callback number and/or a voicemail. These messages are automatically delivered through the Hypercare app (available on mobile or web) as messages to the assigned user(s) or on-call role(s).
A virtual pager number can be assigned to:
- A specific user(s)
- An on-call role(s)
What Happens when a Virtual Pager Number is Called?
- The caller will hear a “pre-recorded message” prompting them to leave a callback number and/or a voicemail.
- Once the caller completes the process, message(s) is sent through the Hypercare app to the assigned user(s) or on-call role.
- The recipient can review the message and have all the necessary context and information before returning the call.
What does a Virtual Page look like?
This depends on how the virtual pager is configured. For example, if the voicemail is enabled and notifications are set to GENERAL, the recipient will receive THREE consecutive messages for EACH call:
FIRST MESSAGE type
- Contains the phone number which they called from and the callback number that they entered
- You can use either numbers to return their call
SECOND MESSAGE type
- A reminder message informing you that a voicemail was left
THIRD MESSAGE type
- Contains the actual voicemail recording that you can tap to playback and listen
If your Virtual Pager is configured for URGENT or STAT notifications
The First Message type will be displayed as and sent with an URGENT or STAT sound respectively
- The Second and Third Message types will still be sent as GENERAL notifications.
📝 Important Notes:
- In an ideal set up where voicemail is enabled, 3 messages are delivered as described above whenever an external user makes a call.
- If you only receive the First Message types, it may be because:
- The caller did not leave a voicemail, or
- Voicemail is not enabled for your Virtual Pager
